Guitars
Visited Peach Guitars in Colchester at the weekend, it’s like an Aladdins Cave for guitarists!

Anyway, finally got my hands on a Gibson SJ200, what an impeccable musical instrument, just wish I could have afforded to buy it!
Also had a bash on a custom Strat, very nice indeed.

So guitarists of WHO, what’s your 6 string of choice or preference? I’m going to be saving up for the Gibbo, put my Tanglewood to shame!

Re: Guitars
I've always wanted to go there, ray w.

My nearest shop is PMT in Southend.

My first guitar (mid 80's) was a make by Marlin. A Marlin Sidewinder, red strat.

I currently own two Squires an affinity Strat in lake placid blue and a butterscotch blonde Classic Vibe Telecaster.

I ain't good enough yet to justify forking out for a Fender.

Re: Guitars
And no, I haven't been playing since mid 80's! Was a school thing for a few yrs.

Rekindled my interest when I hit 40 a few yrs back.

Re: Guitars
As already mentioned, it’s a toss up between Fender Strat and Gibson Les Paul.

Always fancied a Rickenbacker though, just for the look

Great video of Stevie Marriott playing mrs oi's dad's White Falcon that he sold to him when he worked at J60 in Manor Park. She remembers him coming round her house in Goodmayes to pick it up.

Re: Guitars
Tr3bor, it’s well worth a visit, their custom rooms are fantastic, even Denmark Street doesn’t have that kind of stock.

I can’t justify spending £4K on a guitar, maybe if I was still playing gigs but that’s a lot of dough to be sat in the corner being strummed for an hour a day....

Re: Guitars
my two weapons of choice are:

'03 gibson les paul studio with a couple of hot seymour duncans thrown in it. i actually prefer the weight of it to a standard even if the finish isn't quite as flashy

'93 ibanez RG550 with an original wizard neck that you can fly around at 1000mph. again i prefer it to the tarty JEMs and have never been a fan of EMG pickups anyway.

i tend to stick with the LP for most things as the short scale length and smoothness of the wood just feels like home, even when it's completely the wrong guitar for the job.

early 80s silverburst les paul custom is on my bucket list.

Re: Guitars
My first was a Framus in the 60s. Yes, I know, but money was tight back then. Always hankerd after a Strat but never made it and guess I never will now. Arthritis!

Re: Guitars
I've had a GIbson SG for years, and I've got an ESP RZK-1, which I just fucking love the look of so much, even if I don't necessarily like to play that sort of music.

Going to get a classic maple telecaster when my work bonus comes through in March.

Really want a Les Paul 25/50 but I doubt I'll ever own one.
